We live in Singapore and were excited to escape to Krabi for the very first time. A weekend away on beachfront Krabi as a couple was just what we needed.
We stayed at the lovely boutique hotel Amari Vogue and booked directly. We had a direct flight from Singapore and included with our room was an airport pick up and drop-off. It was about a 30 minute drive from the airport to the hotel. We found the price to be very reasonable considering what is included.
The breakfast is lovely, the rooms are gorgeous and well appointed. There are several pools (with elephant waterfalls!) and two restaurants – Italian and Thai – both delicious with good ambiance.
The outdoor Italian restaurant is great for lunch and in the evenings had live music and a nice bar. You can enjoy your drinks by taking them to the pool or sitting right on the beachfront watching the sunset.
We had a room with an outdoor private jacuzzi and would recommend spending a little more for these rooms, the privacy is perfect. You will need to be able to walk up and down quite a few stairs to get around.
Upon arrival and check in, we had a couples massage (fabulous) and then watched the sun set over the ocean.
We had a busy next 2 days:
Day 1 Saturday
We had an early start to the Phi Phi Islands. We hired the Krabi Speed Boat Tour that hit 5 islands – those that were going to more islands seemed a bit rushed and you wouldn’t be able to enjoy the beaches for long. They met us right on the beachfront. This is a touristy excursion. There are a lot of boats taking people to and from the islands, so be prepared. There is an opportunity to charter a private yacht (we may look into that next time), but the islands are so gorgeous, any island hopping tour is worth it! (Discounted tickets for this tour are available here.)
The diving isn’t incredible but our favorite beach by far was Monkey Beach.
We ended up meeting some cool people on the tour and we enjoyed dinner by walking down to beachfront Krabi from our hotel to some of the cute little restaurants there.
Eat seafood. Eat a lot of seafood.
Day 2 Sunday
After a relaxing morning we had an 11 am start to surrounding Krabi islands with a semi-private boat tour. I highly recommend looking for a semi-private tour – the more people you are traveling with, the longer it takes to go to different places and going with 13 instead of say, 50, is well worth it. (Discounted tickets available here.)
If you have an opportunity to do a little shopping, do it!! I found a super cute dress and sweet cover-ups for next to nothing.
My husband hiked the Khao Ngon Nak trail. He said it was the most challenging hike he ever did. I wasn’t going to pass on the chance to enjoy beachfront Krabi to relax and enjoy the beautiful weather. We were both happy with our choices.
It is 15 minute drive to the closest ‘town’, but the hotel can get you a car or a tuk-tuk. I’ve also heard it is quite practical to get a moped and explore that way.
We did not have a chance to explore the Ao Nang Elephant Sanctuary that is close by or see the cave paintings by kayak, but these will be on our list for the next trip. Which I hope will be soon. We returned to Singapore rested and relaxed and thinking about our next trip to Krabi!
Trip taken May 2019.
